This popular music textbook, designed for general music classes in lower secondary schools, is now in its fourth edition. Revised and expanded, About Music is now in full colour and has a new, larger, easy-to-read format. The accompanying set of two CDs has also been re-recorded and expanded. (Note that there are no CDs included with this book)

Each of the 30 chapters has been revised to bring the book into line with the current curriculum guidelines, and nine new musical works for study have been included — both on the CDs and in the text.

In addition, each chapter now contains a Challenge — a special task related to one of the topics covered in that chapter. The Listening sections have been rewritten, with mention of more Australian compositions, and updated Internet references.

Each chapter provides students with:
